Archie Naugle

October 20, 1931 — January 17, 2024

Archie Naugle passed away Wednesday, January, 17, 2024, at Park Village Pines after a struggle with renal failure. He was born October 20, 1931, in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Archie W. and Eunice (Johnson) Naugle and had been a lifelong area resident.

Archie grew up in the Vine neighborhood, graduating from Kalamazoo Central in January 1950.  He met his wife, Sue, on Burdick St. when both were 15. They were married on October 12, 1950, and celebrated 72 anniversaries together.  Archie served in the Korean War as a radio operator in several front line positions.  After the war he learned TV/radio repair and worked in that field for several years.  In 1958 Archie joined the Upjohn Co. where he worked in the garage and drove truck.  After retiring in 1990, he and Sue enjoyed many happy years together.  Archie enjoyed camping/RV, fishing, photography, building model airplanes, and snowmobiling for many years prior to spending winters in Texas. Archie was a charter member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church serving as an elder, deacon, treasurer and Cadet leader.  Archie and Sue loved traveling, visiting much of the US and Canada. They especially liked staying at their place at Thornapple Lake and enjoying winters in Harlingen, TX.  Archie was a very committed, hard working, and faithful husband, dad, uncle, and grandpa, loving his family in his own unique way. He was in church every Sunday wherever he was. Archie's hope was in the Lord and he read or listened to the Bible until his final days.

Archie was preceded in death by his wife, Sue on September 9, 2023; his parents; siblings, Joe (Mavis) Naugle, Edith Naugle, and Joann (Dick) Westcott. Surviving are his children, Carol Naugle, Dan (Nancy) Naugle, and Julie (Dan) Josuns; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nephew Kent (Annette) Naugle, niece Susan Bennett, and several other nieces and nephews.
