Passed away Saturday evening, January 21, 2023. Tony was born June 14, 1940 in Paw Paw, MI the son of Anton Sr. and Gladys (Salisbury) Tomas. He was a lover of music, language and the definition of an academic. He had a Bachelor degree as well as two Masters degrees. During his life he worked as a school teacher, a vocational rehabilitation counselor and after his retirement from the State of Michigan worked as a sign language interpreter. He was a ballroom dancer and put himself through school working as a dance instructor where he met his future wife. He was an avid fan of figure skating and was a member of The Kalamazoo Figure Skating Club. He was also an aspiring writer and one of his short stories titled “Time For Bed” was published after winning a competition.
On December 30, 1960 Tony was united in marriage to his loving wife of 63 years, Kay (Adams) who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Daryl (Debi) Tomas, Eric (Sara) Tomas; 5 grandchildren, Kayla Tomas, Megan Kuiper, Zachary Kuiper, Leah Tomas, Emily Tomas; brothers, Gary (Shirley) Tomas, Donald (Marsha) Tomas, Thomas Tomas; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, January 26 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 411 East Centre, Portage, MI 49002. Private interment will be held at a later date in Portage South Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
