PRATT, Anthony Simon "Tony"
of Kalamazooo Tony Pratt crossed over on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 the day of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, to be with those that have gone before him. He was born June 4, 1954 in San Francisco, CA. He was loved in our dwelling, and he will be loved in his new dwelling. Tony loved life, friends, helping others, and his family. He had a passion for anything new. He learned to grow the best corn, greens, strawberries, you name it he could grow it. He was gifted with his hands as many knew. He could make anything out of a sheet of copper. His creations are too vast to mention. He was proud of the fact that some of his copper had made it across the seas to other countries. He loved making quilts. He always bragged about the money he would make from doing it, but he would always end up giving them away to friends. His most beautiful quilts were those he made for newborns. His other great passion was raising layer chickens. He always said they were just chickens, but he always cried when one would die. He had such an avid love of children. He made a 4 wheelbarrow style pull along for the kids to ride in. He was always inventing new ways to put a smile on a child's face. He was employed at Checker Motors for 36 years, and like many, he lost a lot. Nothing could bring him down, though. He was a fighter in all that he did. We will miss the good times we had out at his farm. Family gatherings, birthdays and weddings are a memory now that will live on in all of us. Surviving are three sisters, Margaret Pratt, Sonya "Pratt" Terburg, and Ylona Pratt; one brother, Carl Pratt, and wife Beverly Bryant Pratt; nieces and nephews, Leland Pratt, Autumn Pratt, Garrett, Tommy, Mason and Angel Terburg; grandnephews and grandnieces, Skyler and Sebastian Pratt, Trevahn, Shadiah, and Kaseye Pratt. Those that went before him were his father, Frederick Allan Pratt; uncles, Judge Charles Pratt, Robin Pratt, Paul Terburg his mentor; and nephew, Cecil Terburg. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30th, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Officiating the service will be the Elder Chan Pratt. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Tony was always concerned that he didn't have friends. To all those that cared for him, show up, and prove him wrong. Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center of Kalamazoo. Please visit
