Portage, Michigan Passed away Friday, May 2, 2008. He was born January 26, 1944 in Kalamazoo, the son of Stephen and Sophie Grumeretz Haiduk and had been a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area. Tony served in the United States Navy as a boiler technician for 20 years. He then worked for Rock Tenn Co. as a boiler operator for 27 years, until his health failed. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association. On April 16, 1966, he married the former Carol Schreuder, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Tony, Jr. Lydia Haiduk of Augusta, Tammie Chris Cassell of Hubert, NC, Laura Doug Decker of Sturgis, Cheri Ted Lopez of Adrian and Joe Haiduk of Portage; their grandchildren, Elam, Zach and Rachel Haiduk, Cameryn, Tyler and Morgan Cassell, Adam and Reece Decker, and Austin and Branden Lopez; his mother, Sophie Haiduk of Battle Creek; sisters, Mary Dove of Kalamazoo, Fran Kline and Diane Mike Nelson of Battle Creek; brothers, Tom Haiduk of Conover, WI, Bob and Steve Haiduk of Battle Creek; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday in St. Monica Catholic Church, 580 Kilgore Rd., with Rev. Fr. Larry Farrell officiating. Interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM., where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM.
