Terrell HINGA, Anna M. Portage, MI Mrs. Hinga passed away Sunday morning, January 7, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born September 29, 1914 in Convoy, OH. Ann graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1932. Over the years, she was employed by Gibson Guitar in Kalamazoo, the ?Portage Herald? newspaper and Houghton Manufacturing in Vicksburg; but mostly, she was a homemaker for her family in Portage. Ann also volunteered on the Vicksburg Hospital Guild for many years and worked on many Portage Township elections. She also served 10 years as a Portage City Councilwoman. Afterwards, she still watched the council meetings on television, agreeing and sometimes disagreeing with the council. Ann enjoyed a full life. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Donald Hinga in Elkhart, IN., who preceded her in death in 1977. They both were Portage residents for many years. Also preceding her in death are her parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Surviving are 2 children, William Linda Hinga of Climax and Judy Hinga of Cedar Lake, IN; 2 grandchildren, Susan Hinga of Bellevue and Donald Kristy Hinga of Climax; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, and Mason. Friends may meet the family from 10-11am Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Funeral services will follow at 11 o?clock. Interment will be in South Portage Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
