TEN BRINK, Ann A.
Formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away early Saturday morning, January 10, 2009 at the age of 89. She was born September 7, 1919 in Comstock, MI to John and Titje DeVries. Ann met the love of her life, Justin TenBrink and they were married on September 26, 1942 in Kalamazoo. Justin preceded her in death on May 11, 1961. Together they had created a loving family which was the center of Ann's life. She is survived by her beloved son, Justin Earl TenBrink, who resides in Las Vegas, NV and her daughter Cheryl Joy Begg of Marshall, MI. Ann shared her great capacity for love with her friends and extended family. During her last three years, Ann was surrounded by love from the staff and residents at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She also had a very special place in her heart for the dogs in her life, who provided her with great companionship and joy. Ann led a full life. She served as a Gray Lady and member of the Baby Guild at Bronson Hospital, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, assisted with Cub Scouts, and helped with elementary classrooms. She had a love for gardening, especially roses, and spent many nights playing Canasta and board games with the family. Ann worked at W.M.U. for twenty years in food service. She loved working with the young people who often brought a smile to her face. Ann is survived by two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, seven brothers and her former husband Vern Smith. Ann will be remembered for her grace and courage as she faced many challenges in life. She loved and cared for others with a warm smile on her face. Ann loved her children passionately. She embraced life with great enthusiasm. Services to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday at 4 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Her children will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2-4 & 5-7 pm. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Ann's memory be made to the Maple Grove Neighborhood Activities Fund at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, 1150 E.
