SCHERING, Ann R.
Of Kalamazoo Ann went to her eternal home on Saturday morning, May 15, 2010. She was born November 16, 1925, in Oude Wetering, The Netherlands, one of fourteen children born to the late Nico and Derkina Ritzema Knibbe. On December 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Anthony Schering in The Netherlands. In March, 1949, they immigrated to The United States moving to Maryland. Two years later they moved to Kalamazoo, where they raised their four children. The happiest times of her life were the years she was raising her family. She was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church. Preceding her in death were her husband of 50 years, Anthony Schering in 1999, and one son, Anthony Schering Jr. in 1990. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Rev. N. Eric and Penelope Schering of Papua New Guinea, Patricia and Mark Scheffers of Kalamazoo, Edward and Lisa Schering of Kalamazoo; and daughter-in-law, Emma Schering of Kalamazoo; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Ann will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road, with Dr. Warren H. Lammers officiating. Interment will follow in West Cooper Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church, Kalamazoo Christian School Association, or the Back to God Hour.
