Klop, Ann Veldkamp
of Grand Haven, Michigan Ann Veldkamp Klop went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 16, 2012. She is survived by her 4 children, Stanley and Sandra Klop, Donald and Winifred Klop, Eileen Klopand Philip Petersen, James and Lan Klop, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Ann was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 18, 1915, the first of eight siblings born to Jacob and Grace Veldkamp. Ann worked outside the home in various jobs before she married Richard Klop on September 12, 1942. Dick and Ann sent their 4 children to the local Christian School and were life long members of Grace Christian Reformed Church, the church of her parents. In church Ann was active in Ladies Societies and the Coffee Break ministry. In the community she served as a volunteer at Bronson Hospital and with Dick hosted family members of hospital patients. Ann was the perfect hostess. Her Sunday pork roast dinners were especially scrumptious. From an early age Ann wrote letters to her cousin in the Netherlands, Antje Veldkamp and throughout her life was the family's connection to relatives there. Family meant everything to Ann, her nuclear family, her church family, her extended family. Everyday until she died she remembered her family in her thoughts and prayers. Ann wrote letters regularly to her children and grandchildren and always remembered everyone's birthday with a card and a monetary gift. Her family pictures and photo albums were a great comfort to her especially after Dick died in the year 2000. Ann was a pious woman who showed unconditional love to those around her. She believed what the Apostle Paul wrote, "All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose." She depended on the grace of God daily to meet all her needs and always found the good in every situation. The family is grateful to daughter and son in law, Eileen and Phil Petersen, with whom Ann lived and was cared for the last five and half years and in whose home she went to be with her Lord. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A private burial will take place on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South, followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd. Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold will officiate. Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to North Ottawa Hospice, 1515 S. Despelder St., Grand Haven, MI 49417 or the Kalamazoo Christian School Association, 2121 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
