Angela Kaye Sommers

Angela Kaye Sommers passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the age of 53. Angela, a perfect woman who did it all; mother, wife, friend, hard worker, manager. She was born on June 2, 1971 in Angola, Indiana to her parents Terry and Shamar (Anderson) Mansberger. As a child, she enjoyed art and sports, playing varsity volleyball and basketball. After graduating from Fremont High School, she attended Purdue University. On September 9, 2000 Angela married Christopher Sommers who survives. Angela started working at a young age (13) at Bledsoe’s Beach serving ice cream. She retained that work ethic throughout her career. Angela excelled professionally, working in engineering and manufacturing management positions for various companies. She recently held the title of Materials Manager for Dimplex Thermal Solutions in Kalamazoo, MI. Angela was an exceptional manager, having the ability to inspire employees to perform at their best, while also retaining a compassionate spirit. She was good at whatever she put her mind to, often solving problems with creative solutions. She was a very caring person who put other’s needs before her own. Angela was smart, creative, kind, organized, loving, and strong- the glue of the family. 

She had many interests but was happiest when doing things with her family, attending kid’s events, family vacations (beaches to mountains), boating on lake Michigan, tanning on the beach with her daughters, baking, crafting, gardening, and date nights. In addition to these interests, she was also happy simply being at home taking care of her family. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, and organizer. Angela was happy in whatever she did and was always positive. Her beautiful smile would brighten any room she entered, and her laughter & happy spirit was contagious. Her presence will be truly missed. 

Angela was surrounded by loved ones when she passed. She is survived by her husband, Christopher; two daughters, Camille and Alexis; son, Tyler; brothers, James (Susan) Mansberger, Robert (Amy) Mansberger; sisters, Chrissy (Rick) Sarrazin, Tami (Keith) Freeburn; parents, Shamar and Terry Mansberger; mother and father-in-law, Karen and Richard Sommers; brother-in-law, Eric Sommers; sister-in-law, Keri (Eric) Diener; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, beginning with visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Centerpoint Church 2345 10th St. N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, followed by a service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park North. After the interment, a reception will be held at Bell’s Brewery.
