Of Kalamazoo Went to be with his Lord, Monday evening, December 10, 2012. Andy was born August 16, 1926 in Portage, MI the son of Jacob and Cornelia Petersen Dykstra and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Prior to his retirement he worked as a dispatcher for 34 years with Michigan Disposal and 10 years with Tri-City. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed doing yard work, fishing, and photography. On January 11, 1951 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Jean Mulder who preceded him in death on December 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving is his son, Doug Laurie Dykstra; grandchildren, Christina Todd Madden, Jason Gilde, Jessica Gilde; great-grandson, Zeke; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at 10:30am Saturday at the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd, with Rev. Dr. Warren Lammers officiating. Interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Memorials may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church.
