OVIEDO, Andres "Andy"
of Kalamazoo Andy passed away Tuesday morning, August 30, 2011 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born October 3, 1936 in Havana, Cuba the son of the late Andres and Maria A. Fresneda Oviedo. In 1971, Andres and his family immigrated to the United States from Cuba. Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo received the Oviedo's as members; where he served as an elder and volunteer in the summer youth programs. Andy loved to play chess. He also was a spiritual mentor/teacher to many. Andy was employed by OIK Industries in Kalamazoo for 35 years until his retirement in 2008. Surviving are his sister, Angela Oviedo and many close church family and friends. Graveside services for Andy will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Riverside Cemetery Gull Rd. at Riverview Dr. with Rev. Denise Posie officiating. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
