PURMALIS, Andrejs
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Died May 22, 2010 at his home. He was born January 24, 1920 in Jekaterinburg, Russia, the only child, to the late Reinholds and Lidija Odins Purmalis. He was united in marriage on May 10, 1969 to Betty Pryer, who preceded him in death in January of 2002. Andrejs became a U.S. citizen on May 12, 1959. He was a long-time member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo. He worked for Upjohn as a Pharmaceutical Research Associate until retiring after 39 years. Surviving Andrejs is his dear friend and trustee, Ilse Gebhard and his dear neighbor, Barbara Deback. A Memorial Service will take place Thursday, 2:00 o'clock, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo or to the Latvian Church. Please see
