SIGERS, Alvin Dale
Of Mattawan Al passed away Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2010 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born February 18, 1933 in Campbell, MO, the son of William and Mary Alma Key Sigers. Al was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving four years during the Korean Conflict. On March 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to Frances Dolloff in San Antonio, TX. After moving to Michigan in 1956, he was employed for 25 years by Conrail until his retirement in 1979. Following retirement, he and Frances moved to Texarkana, AR for 20 years, before returning to Mattawan in 2001. Al was an avid Bluegrass Festival follower. He enjoyed building and driving dune buggies over the years. Al also loved to travel, go camping, and to the casino. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Frances Sigers; three children, Sheryl Sigers of Mattawan, Nancy William Emmert of Mattawan, and Alan Darlinda Sigers of Comstock; seven grandchildren, Tony Jones, Andrea Jones, Matthew Emmert, Alex Dale Julie Sigers, Rachel Emmert, Andrew Sigers, and Austin Sigers; four great-grandchildren, Faith Jones, Aiden Dale Sigers, Augustus Emmert, and Anderson Dale Sigers; seven sisters and brothers, Unimay McCumber of Parma, Junior Beatrice Sigers of Jackson, Donald Charlotte Sigers of Jackson, Carolyn Tom Buchanan of Charleston, SC, Gene Sigers of Livonia, Mary David Cyphers of Jackson, and Thomas Jefferson Sigers of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one son, Gene Sigers; his parents; and two brothers, Harvey and Howard Sigers. Memorial services for Al will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
