SWITZER, Alva Wade
Parchment, MI A family member and friend died Friday afternoon March 12, 2010 at his residence. Alva was born December 25, 1960 in Vicksburg, Michigan a son of Elvin and Judith Rand Switzer. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was a self employed contractor for over 20 years. Alva was a strong determined fighter of cancer until his illness made it impossible for him to do physical activities, still he never lost hope or courage while fighting for his life. He was passionate about cars and construction. He is survived by his daughter, Kascandra Baldwin of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Jadin and Novaley; his father, Elvin Linda Switzer of Sterling, OH; his mother, Judith Switzer of Kalamazoo; 2 sisters, Donna Leversee and Robin Switzer both of Portage; a brother, Elvin Brett Switzer of Tennessee; his former wife, Teresa Holt of Kalamazoo; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service at the New Life Victory Church, 2775 S. 26th St. will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center. We will miss him till we meet again. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
