DOLPH, Allen R.
of Kalamazoo Allen passed away Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2011 at Alamo Nursing Home. He was born June 11, 1924 in Harvey, Illinois, the son of Otis and Vianna Tapping Dolph. On October 31, 1942, Allen was united in marriage to Barbara Blue. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II serving from 1943 until his discharge in 1945. During his service, he was wounded in Anzio, Italy in April 1944 and received a Purple Heart. Allen was employed by Kalamazoo Fire Department for 33 years until his retirement in 1978, retiring as Captain. He was a member of Kalamazoo-Anchor Lodge #22 F. & A.M., where he was a Master of Lodge #87 in 1972. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Red Arrow Post #1527 and member of Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Barbara Dolph; 4 children, Dee Burkett of Delton, Darrel Sanjuana Dolph of San Antonio, Texas, Douglas Nancy Dolph of Fort Gratiot, and Dale LuAnn Dolph of Union City; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Emily Sehy of Scotts; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and 2 brothers, Donald and Raymond Dolph. Masonic services for Allen will held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment with military honors will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Shiners Hospitals for Children. Please visit
