Died Sunday morning August 21, 2016. Al was born August 29, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Allen and Ruth (Cliff) Briggs, Sr. During WWII, served four years with the U.S. Navy. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 32 years before retiring. Al was a lifetime member of the Accountants Association. Al enjoyed many rounds of golf in AZ and Ml. Another leisure activity Al participated in was acting in local Civic Theatre plays. Al was also a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was an usher for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents. On June 18, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marguerite M. (Bowersox) Briggs who survives. Marguerite and Al were able to travel around the world. Also surviving are two nephews; Donald Bowersox of Georgia, and Ken Bowersox of Maryland, along with special friends, Bob and Janie Kinas of Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be announced and held at the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park St. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
