SWETS, Allan R.
Of Portage Passed away peacefully with his family by his side Monday February 16, 2009 in Ann Arbor, MI after a long courageous battle with leukemia. Allan was born October 4, 1943 in Chicago, IL the son of Albert and Bernice Gorski Swets. He was employed for 19 years with American Metal Fab in Three Rivers. Allan was a dedicated Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and house painting. He was a member of the Portage Moose, and was a devoted loving family man. On January 25, 1964 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Judith Ann Crowell who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Brenda Zaucha and Ralph Geller of Bloomingdale, IL, Kim Thomas IV Manion of Mattawan, Mark Danielle Swets of Oak Park, IL, Jaime Ryan Boulter of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Monica, Ashley, Tommy, Amber, Kristopher; great-grand daughter, Ayla; 2 sisters, Donna Paul Siebel of Edwardsburg, Lorraine Bill Maxwell of Lawton; and several nieces and nephews. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Robert Swets; and a son-in-law, John A. Zaucha. Friends may meet the family from 10-1:30 Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street where services will follow with Rev. Connie Vinci officiating. Cremation will follow services and a private family interment will be at a later date.
