Alida J. Blauwkamp

Alida J (Dykhuis) Blauwkamp of Kalamazoo, MI was welcomed into glory on November 2, 2024. She was born in Overisel, MI on November 10, 1943 as the youngest of 6 children to William and Jennie. She was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Holland Christian High School, where she met her future husband, Jason. She attended Calvin College and Blodgett Nursing school, eventually earning a BSN. She touched many lives in her 35 years of nursing in Holland, MI, Munster IN and Paw Paw, MI. 

Alida loved music and learned to play piano from her sister-in-law Janice Dykhuis. She sang in school and church choirs while growing up, played piano and organ at Hammond CRC for many years, and sang in the Westwood CRC senior choir for over three decades. 

Second only to her love of Jesus was Alida’s love of her family and friends. She is survived by, Jason, her husband of 59 years, her children Martha (Troy) Vieau, Ross (Julie) Blauwkamp and Irina (Mike) Jozwiak, her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Sierra, Tristan, XiXi, Zach, Kaili, Ian, Izabela, Chloe and Henry and many nephews, nieces and dear friends. 

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Road, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49006, on Thursday, Nov 7 at 11 am, preceded by a time to meet with family at 10 am. A luncheon at the church will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood CRC choir or Bethany Christian Services.
