MASON, Alice R.
of Portage Went to be with the Lord, November 29, 2011. She was born August 2, 1931 in Cheboygan, MI to the late Michael J. and Kathryn Dempski Pietrzak. Alice was united in marriage on June 22, 1957 to Franklin "Frank" Mason, who preceded her in death on July 8, 2010. She was an avid seamstress. She enjoyed her volunteer work at St. Joseph Church, and she was close to her many special friends that she volunteered with. Surviving Alice are her children, Merlin Cherri Mason of Portage, Mark Mason of Comstock, Laurice Charles Bishop of Billings, MT, Linda Mark Christian of Galesburg and John Susan Mason of Portage; 11 grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Zachary, Sara, Joe, Aaron, Avery, Bekah, Jena, Jacob and James; 4 great grandchildren, Austyn, Charlette, Madison and Ryan; sisters, Josephine Lilak, Anne Ausbon and Teresa LaRoque; brothers, Ted and Frank Pietrzak; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Alice in death were also 2 siblings, Barb Vanier and Raymond Pietrzak. A Memorial Mass will take place Wednesday, 10:00 o'clock, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Kalamazoo. Msgr. Michael Hazard will officiate services. Committal service will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 1:00 o'clock, following the luncheon. Those who wish to attend should meet in the cortege area of Ft. Custer between 12:45 - 1:00. Arrangements are by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Church or a charity of one's choice.
