Kalamazoo, MI Died on September 10, 2010 at Rose Arbor Hospice at the age of 101. He had a long and productive career with the Sales Department of the Upjohn Company, joining the company as a salesman in Collinsville, Illinois in 1935 and retiring at age 62 as the Assistant Director of Sales. He was highly regarded by all who worked with him over the years. He was born in Salem, Illinois, the first son of Earl and Nellie Scott, on December 1, 1908. Preceding him in death were his wife, Harriet Marie Wedig Scott, who died in 1978 and his brother, Maurice Scott. He is survived by his two children, Susan Adele Soder, of Denver, Colorado, and John Alfred Scott, of Lake Leelanau, Michigan; four grandchildren, Michael Scott, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Andrew Scott, of Blanchard Idaho, Lance Soder of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kristine Soder of Durango, Colorado; and three great-grandsons, Cody Soder, Cullen Scott and Duncan Scott. He is to be entombed at Mount Everest Cemetery beside his wife, with arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A private memorial service for family and friends is planned for a later date. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staffs of the Inn at Fountain Place and Rose Arbor Hospice for the superb care that they gave to Al.
