Alfred D. Kiel

KIEL, ALFRED D.
of Florida Alfred D. Kiel, age 78, passed away in Florida, March 1, 2013, following a short battle with congestive heart failure. Alfred was born April 2, 1934, in Portage, Michigan, the son of Arie and Alice Hut Kiel and was a longtime resident of the Kalamazoo area. In the 1970's he moved to Sherwood, Michigan and enjoyed wintering in Florida. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Portage. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Arie and Alice Kiel; siblings, Jessie Free, Berdina Kloosterman, John Kiel, Henry Kiel, Irene Mejeur, Anna Jean Lockhart and Donald Kiel. Surviving are his wife Patsy Kiel; his four children, Pam Rick Reeves, Alan Diane Kiel, Penny Kelly Blank and Peggy Bill Timmerman; grandchildren, Nikki Reeves, Brent Heather Reeves, Brett Kelsey Kiel, Brynn Kiel, Chad Blank, Kaylie Blank, Tyler Timmerman and Rebecca Timmerman; 5 great-grandchildren; step-children, Michael Susan Lane, Denise Kellam and Connie Robert Bray; step-grandchildren; siblings, Trena VanderRoest, Arthur Carol Kiel, Betty Hoorn, Ruth Sparks, Robert Carrol Kiel and Dorothy Larry Barker; in-laws, Martha Kiel and Gary Mejeur and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 6:30 PM Monday, April 8th at First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. Memorials in Alfred's memory may be directed to the First Reformed Church of Portage Memorial Fund.
