Portage, MI Died Friday morning October 1, 2010. Alberta was born June 26, 1939 in Allegan, Michigan a daughter of Albert and Iola Lavoy Heckman. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with Paris Cleaners for over 20 years before retiring. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Debra. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles R. Tyler whom she married on August 30, 1958. Also surviving, a son, Timothy Pamela Tyler of Comstock; a daughter, Kimberly Tyler of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Timothy Jr. Mary, Charles II Jody, Amber Kenny, Matthew, and Caroline; 7 great-grandchildren, twins, Leanna and Breanna, Aden, Charles III, Makenzie, Dakota, and Colin; 2 brothers, Roger Mary Heckman of Delton and Gary Karen Heckman of Malvern, OH; 4 sisters, Shirley Taylor of Allegan, Sue Heath of Comstock, Joyce Stratton of Portage, and Betty Webster of Bloomingdale. Services will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
