Alan B. Chase passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born to the late Willard J. and Georgia Dawn (Eldred) Chase on December 29, 1947, in Grand Rapids, MI. Alan proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Hi-Lo driver at Reynolds Metals in Grand Rapids until their closing in 1988. Alan then went on to work for Betton Imports before moving to Kalamazoo. He married Sarah Tyler in Kalamazoo on May 17, 1997, at First Presbyterian Church. After moving to Kalamazoo, Alan was a professional driver for many businesses before starting his own business, ABC Driving. He was a kind, funny, and sincere person who had a love for music, especially Elvis, Rick Nelson, Jim Reeves, and Roy Orbison. Alan also enjoyed sports of all kinds, cars, cooking, and ironing. He was a good cook and was affectionately known as the “Grill Master”. Alan was also an avid animal lover, especially cats, with Freddie and Eddie as two of his favorites.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sarah Tyler Chase; 3 brothers, Duane Chase, Bruce Chase, and Brian Chase; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Brent Chase.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, 321 W South St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A private family interment will take place.
