Adrian Westrate

WESTRATE, ADRIAN
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Adrian was born November 14, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the son of Marinus and Mary Eichorn Westrate, and died July 29, 2010. He was a lifelong area resident and was employed for over 20 years with The Upjohn Company, prior to his retirement. Adrian had a true passion for raising pansies and for most of his life he owned and operated his own Pansy Flower Farm. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Preceding Adrian in death was his first wife, Geraldine Ekema Westrate; a daughter, Lynda Perry; a son, David Westrate; a sister, Nellie VanTuyl and two brothers, Marinus and John. Surviving are his son, Dale Amy Westrate; five grandchildren, Stephanie Wolfe, Elizabeth Westrate, Cory Westrate, Tara Westrate and Austin Westrate; two great-grandchildren, Jaysean and Caiden; his fiancée, Betty Bowersox; two sisters, Marie Tim Worley and Jennie Eisenhardt; a son-in-law, Larry Perry; a brother-in-law, Peter VanTuyl; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where a service to celebrate Adrian's life will be held 1:00 PM Monday with Pastor Timothy Boles officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
