Adrian passed away Friday, July 18, 2008. He was born April 25, 1917, in Kalamazoo, the son of Bastiaan and Nellie VanGemert DeVisser and was a lifelong area resident. Adrian and his brother Henry operated DeVisser Brothers Landscaping from 1940-83 and he continued landscaping for many more years following retirement. Adrian was a lifelong member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. On November 9, 1944, he was united in marriage to the former Betty Kwekel of Grand Rapids who survives. Also surviving are his children, Richard Marilyn DeVisser of Kalamazoo, M. Beth David Engelsma of Grand Rapids, A. Paul Janet DeVisser of Plainwell and Timothy Ruth DeVisser of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Martha DeVisser of Kalamazoo, Abraham DeVisser of Kalamazoo and John Alberta DeVisser of Bangor; many nieces and nephews. Adrian was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Joe DeVisser. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 PM and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation 108 Pratt Road with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Adrian's memory may be directed to the Providence Christian School.
