BARBER, Addison A.
Of Kalamazoo Addison Alfred Barber III, age 64, passed away early Friday morning, October 28, 2011 at his home. He was born October 21, 1947 in Grand Rapids and grew up in Davison, the only son of Addison II and Dorothy Hammer Barber. Addison retired from the United States Air Force after serving 24 years from 1975-1991 and earning the rank of Master Sergeant. After retirement, he continued working at both Sears and OfficeMax for the following few years. He was an avid stamp collector with an extensive collection. Surviving are 4 children, Tina Tabulog Rob of Kalamazoo, Addison Barber IV Tammy of Texas, Richard Barber Kristina of Flint and Jacob Barber of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Miriam, Brittney Fernando, Matthew, Alexandra, Austin, Presley, Morgan, Richard, and Lukas; 3 step-grandchildren, Andrew, Bethany and Adam and former spouse, Jean Barber. Preceding him in death were his parents and daughter, Deanna Barber as an infant. Funeral services for Addison will be at 12:30 PM on Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, 1112 N. Drake Road, with Bishop Kevin Staples officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:30 PM in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Disabled American Veterans.
