SOULE, Mrs. A. Doreen
Portage, MI Audrey Doreen Soule, age 82, died early Sunday morning, June 24, 2012, in Portage, MI. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Arthur and Audrey Chekley Gyles. She was raised in Allegan County by her mother and step-father, Wynne "Jack" Wilkinson and had lived in the Kalamazoo/Portage area for most of her adult life. Doreen worked as an accountant for Checker Motors for 36 years before retiring. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and active in the Braille ministry there. Doreen was a 4H leader for many years and was a member of S.C.O.R.E. On August 22, 1954, Doreen was united in marriage with Martin James Soule, who preceded her in death in 2004. Doreen was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Little. Surviving are: five children, Pam Soule of State College, PA, Jim Soule of Burns Flat, OK, Amanda Peter Militzer of Scotts, David Andrea Soule of Caledonia and Kim Scott Broekhuizen of Chelsea; eight grandchildren, Maggie Mike Elgersma, Sean Ogg, Tai Ogg, Brent Militzer, Alexandria Broekhuizen, Madeline Broekhuizen, Dakota Soule and Logan Soule; two great-grandchildren, Grace Elgersma and Drako Ogg; a brother, Chuck Phyllis Wilkinson; a sister, Pat Ron Claussen; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd, with visitation beginning at 10am. Burial in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South will follow services. Memorials should be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or to Bickford Cottage.
