DYKEHOUSE, A. June
Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Sunday evening, August 23, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. June was born December 14, 1935 in Kalamazoo, MI, and was a lifelong Kalamazoo resident. Over her 30 plus years of employment, she worked at the Kalamazoo Answering Service, Kalamazoo State Hospital, as an operator at Bell Telephone, as a receptionist at Langeland Family Funeral Homes and as Switchboard Operator at Borgess Medical Center where she was lovingly referred to as "Operator June". She was kind, generous, selfless and very meticulous. She enjoyed yard and garage sales and thrift shops. She served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. On June 20, 1959, she was married to John Dykehouse, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Stephen Lois Dykehouse of Kalamazoo; daughter, Laurie Bill III Hubbard of Vicksburg; 4 grandchildren, Nicole and Shawnie Hines, Bill and Joshua Hubbard; 4 great-grandchildren, Kamron, Xavier, Phoenix and Angelea; and brother, Mike Perigo of Kalamazoo. Preceding her in death were her mother and step-father, Evelyn and Wayne Wood, and her father and step-mother, Erial and Betty Perigo. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with the Rev. Dennis Goodrich officiating, where friends may visit with the family from 10:30 AM until the time of services. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
