WENKE, Wilma E.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013. Wilma was born March 26, 1918 in Comstock, MI, the daughter of John and Wiebedena Cramer Slager. She was a member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church and prayed faithfully for her church family. Wilma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling with her husband and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. On February 3, 1939 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, John Wenke, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2006. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Wilma is survived by two children, Jack Evelyn Wenke, Sheryl Douglas Stapert; five grandchildren, Craig Debbie Wenke, Mark Rita Wenke, Brett Shellie Stapert, Andrew Stapert, and Erika Stapert; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Carter, Carlos, Jared, and Logan Wenke, Mackenzie and Kendall Stapert; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton, with pastors Henry De Vries and Dale Slings officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
