MURRAY, William Bill
Of Portage Passed away suddenly on November 22, 2011 I Harlingen, TX. Bill was born June 1, 1926 in Winona, MN, a son of Herbert and Helen Murray. He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Bill worked for several years at St. Regis Panelyte and Aeromotive. He began his business as Murray's Lawn and Garden doing small engine repair and later worked at Wolverine Auto and Garden until his retirement. Bill was very talented with his hands. His hobbies included making hunting knives in his blacksmith shop. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and was a former member of the Augusta Custer V.F.W. Post #7956. On May 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Kemp in Galesburg, MI. Also surviving are a brother Donald Helen Murray of Mt. Iron, MN and a sister Margaret Stanley Chiglo of Whalan, MN; several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 1 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 9420 Portage Rd. with Pastor Joan Herbon officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. 269 343-1508.
