KONIGSBERG, Mrs. Shirley J.
Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Monday morning, September 19, 2011. Shirley was born August 26, 1921 in Kalamazoo the daughter of the late Floyd and Myrtle Jewson Putnam and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. She was a member of the Congregation of Moses where she was very active in the Sisterhood; and worked for 40 years as an administrative assistant with various companies which included NARFE; and the Yingling and Mauzy insurance company. Shirley also enjoyed camping with the Kzoo campers and doing word find crossword puzzles. On August 8, 1965 she was united in marriage to Max Konigsberg who preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Philip Hennessy; a grandson, Sean Hennessy; and a brother, Richard Putnam. Surviving are her children, Pat Jim McKeever, Michael Cheryl Hennessy, Anna Dan Appel, Alysia Konigsberg, Pamela Steve Laffer, Eric Lisa Konigsberg; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:00 o'clock Wednesday today at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Rabbi Harvey Spivak officiating. Interment will follow in Jewish Riverside Cemetery. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. There will also be a memorial service at 8:00pm Wednesday at the Congregation of Moses, 2501 Stadium Dr. Memorials may be directed to the Congregation of Moses.
