Sheryl Lynn (Jarvis) Mezo

Sheryl Lynn Mezo, age 65, of Portage passed away August 16, 2021 at home. She was born September 29, 1955 in Herrin, Illinois to the late James and Shirley (Crossmann) Jarvis.

Sheryl lived for taking care of people—her number one being her grandchildren. She loved to support them by going to their sporting events and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles with them. She enjoyed taking vacations with her family and sitting outside, drinking her coffee while watching the birds. Sheryl was a happy person, and was always ready to laugh at a joke, even if she was the one being taunted (especially by her son-in-law, Sean).

Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Nobel "Gene" Mezo in 2012; brothers, Danny Jarvis, Bobby Jarvis, and Terry Keller; and sister, Brenda Pedigo.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Sean) Hamlin; sons, Kevin Jarvis and Gene Mezo; step-daughters, Rhonda (Bob) Epperly and Marsha (Randy) Schnare; step-sons, Greg (Mary) Mezo, Nobel "Jr." (Renee) Mezo, Kevin Mezo, and David Mezo; sisters, Chrystal (Mike) Davis and Patsy (Greg) Alton; brothers, Tim (Zula) Jarvis, Randy Jarvis, and James (Robin) Jarvis; as well as a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 11:00am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49002. The family will greet friends Monday, August 23 from 5-7:00pm at the funeral home. Sheryl will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery following the service. The family welcomes you after the interment to the Schoolcraft American Legion Post 475, 425 E Clay Street, Schoolcraft, MI 49087 at 3:00pm for a time of food and fellowship.
