Ruth Ann Campbell

CAMPBELL Ruth Ann Ruth Ann Marshburn Campbell was born August 8, 1939 in Santa Maria, California, to Catherine McKinnon and Rev Oscar Ellis Marshburn. She died at the Bronson Nursing Home in Lawton on Sunday, March 11, 2012. A native of southwest Michigan, Ruth graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1957. After a chance meeting on an airplane bound for New Mexico in 1975, Ruth married William Moore Campbell on April 3, 1976, with her father performing the ceremony, at the First Presbyterian Church in Benton Harbor. Bill died in 1988 in Battle Creek. A registered nurse and adult geriatric nurse practitioner, Ruth received her training at Presbyterian-Saint Lukes Hospital in Chicago. She was a public health nurse in Cochiti Lake, New Mexico before returning to Michigan where she finished her career at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. She retired from nursing in 1990. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her two brothers, Laurance A. Marshburn Mary of Anchorage, Alaska and Michael A. Marshburn Jan of Portage, Michigan as well as her many nieces and nephews who she claimed as her own. Ruth was a long time member and supporter of the First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw, Michigan. Memorials may be made in Ruth's memory to this church at 120 Pine, Paw Paw, MI 49079. Following cremation, a private service will be held by the family at a later date.
