Of Kalamazoo Following a short struggle with cancer, surrounded by her family, Ruth went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, September 19th. She was born to George & Gertrude VanAlthuis on June 2, 1931 in Clifton, NJ. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was serving God and her family. She faithfully served at her husband's side throughout his ministry. She was actively involved in each of the 5 Christian Reformed Churches they served. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Rev. Floyd R. De Boer and their 4 sons and their families: Bob & Char, Ron & Irene, Dan & Jan, John & Chris; 12 grand children and 4 great grandsons. She is also survived by her siblings: sisters, Trina & Albert DeRoo, Jessie & William Martin, sister-in-law Marian Rienstra, sister Lois & Paul Lyman, all of NJ, brother Edward & Tina VanAlthuis of NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Milwood Christian Reformed Church, 3306 Lovers Lane, with Rev. Loren Kotman officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Milwood Church on Thursday from 4-8 PM and on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Milwood Christian Reformed Church, the Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
