Ronald Dean Thuma
May 31, 1954-October 14, 2021

Ron, 67, was born and raised in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He died, unexpectedly, in the night of natural causes on October 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Willard Thuma and Betty Jane Thuma.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Dawn (Glasgow) Thuma; his sons, Paul (April) Thuma and their children, Isaac and Alec; Scott (Kendalyn) Thuma and their children, Charlie and Emily; and his siblings, David (Linnea) Thuma, and Sandra (David) Natusch.

Ron graduated from Eaton Rapids High School and went to work for Felpausch Food Center. He worked with Felpausch for 36 years, managing several stores in different locations, until they closed. He then worked for Spartan Stores an additional 7 years, spending a total of 43 years in the grocery business, and retiring in 2015. He loved working with people.

Ron could carry on a conversation with anyone, always ready with an anecdote or a joke. He was easy-going and had a great sense of humor. He was an audiophile who loved all kinds of music, but mostly preferred classic rock and blues. An avid movie buff, Ron could tell you pretty much anything you wanted to know about movies from any era. He also tinkered with flying model airplanes and helicopters, and enjoyed reading. He had a love of unique pocket knives, and would have one on him at all times. Also, Ron took great pride in being a skilled grill master, with the ability to grill anything you handed him to perfection. He loved the challenge.

Ron was always supportive of his wife, Dawn, encouraging her to do what made her happy. He was a great listener, and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was very proud of his sons, and loved them and his daughters in law dearly. His grandchildren adored him and were the light in his eyes. Family was everything to him. He will be missed.
