Robert LaVerne Nichols

Robert Nichols, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was born June 28, 1937 in Kalamazoo to the late Daryl and Katherine (Banks) Nichols. Bob was united in marriage to Sandra "Sandy" Smith on August 24, 1957. Bob was tender hearted, loved his family, was a great provider and was always kind. He worked 35 years for the US Postal Service while retiring at age 55. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, taking trips to the casino and looked forward to the many trips he took with Sandy, especially the annual family vacation to Great Bear Lake. Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra Nichols; children, Cindi (Ray) Harris, Lynnette Scaturro, Ashley (Sandy) Nichols and Aaron (Tamara) Nichols; grandchildren, Jordan (Jennie Roach) Harris, Trevor (Kayt) Harris, Alisha (Andrew) Krolik, Corey Scaturro, Kara Scaturro, Mackenzie Nichols, Mayze Nichols and Dominic Nichols; great-grandchildren, Anders, Lainey and Gaia; siblings, Jerry (Sally) Nichols, Darla (Sandy) Hagan and Phil (Jeanie) Nichols; sister-in-law, Rose Nichols; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Nichols. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 18th from 12-2 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a memorial service will begin at 2 pm. Rev. James Dyke will officiate services. A private interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to Heritage Community of Kalamazoo (funds to: Amber Place).
