Robert G. Jones

JONES, Robert G. Bob passed away Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born on September 6, 1927 in Kalamazoo, the son of Roland and Helen Grostic Jones. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force serving during World War II and the Korean War. On July 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Grace M. Meints. Bob grew up working in the family business, R.M. Jones Gift Shop, and eventually became owner and operator of the business, until its closing in 2009. Bob was an Eagle Scout and a lifeguard at Torch Lake. He loved the water, sailing and boating at the family cottage on Eagle Lake Texas Twp.. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Grace Jones; their two children, Barbara Wright of Vicksburg and Ron Cheri Jones of Richland; five grandchildren, Larry Liz Wright, Jennifer Rob Lint, Bill Susan Wright, David Wright and John Wright; four great-grandchildren, Larry and Landon Wright and Elliana and Emelia Lint; and brother, Trevor Kay Jones of Northport. Preceding him in death were his parents and son-in-law, Larry Wright. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 12, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2031 E. Cork Street, with Pastor Greg Silvey officiating. Private inurnment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bethlehem Baptist Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Loaves and Fishes. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
