HAMPTON, ROBERT WADE
PORTAGE, MI
Passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the age 64. Robert was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 21, 1951, the son of Eugene W. and Gladys (Diaz) Hampton. He attended Western Michigan University, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. For many years, he worked as a counselor for Nazareth College and Western Michigan University. He was currently employed as a courier by Prestige Delivery (Lasership). He was an avid golfer and enjoyed music. He loved to play the guitar and was pursuing the dream of becoming a song writer. He recently recorded a CD "Oldenu" with Tate Music Group. He was an extra in the series "Land of the Outlaws", premiering this year. He also helped with music coordination, worked as locations manager and did voice over work for the series. He is survived by his two children, Nathan Hampton of Kalamazoo and Emily (Justin Gilley) Hampton of Allegan; one grandson, Zackery Gilley; his mother, Gladys Hampton of Portage; three sisters, Sue Hampton of Kalamzoo, Debbie (Fred) Petersen of Naperville, IL, Laura Beth (Steve) Hubbard of Kalamazoo; one niece and one nephew, Amy Petersen and Rick Petersen; several aunts, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene W. Hampton. Friends may visit with the family from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th at the funeral chapel. Rev. James Dyke will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
