Retha Lorene Frye, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016 in Coldwater, MI. She was born on March 18, 1933 in Success, AR a daughter of Cletus "Jack" and Georgia Lena (Vannada) Pippin. Retha worked for over 30 years as an LPN at various nursing homes between Michigan and Florida. She was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Lawrence Memorial Library in Climax. Retha enjoyed crocheting, painting, sewing, crafts and reading. On June 3, 1978 Retha married Jerry M. Frye who preceded her in death on December 23, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jimmy Pippin and a step-son, Paul A. Frye. Surviving are a son, Ron (Sandie) Shively of Portage; a daughter, Connie (Keith) Garner of Bronson; two step-daughters, Jerry Gail Crockatt of Ann Arbor and Mary Ann (Richard) Skidmore of Scotts; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Dolly Rogers and June Johnson; two brothers, Jack and Larry Pippin; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 Saturday morning at the Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple Street with her nephew, Rev. Greg Vannada, officiating. Retha's family will receive guests at the church beginning at 10:00. Private interment in Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lawrence Memorial Library.
