Pauline Joyce Willard
of Portage, Michigan Pauline Joyce Willard, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday October 12, 2014 in her Portage, Michigan home. Pauline was born April 3rd, 1934 to Paul & Ada Hulet Burrell in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Pauline had been a Portage, Michigan resident for most of her life. On October 25th, 1958 she married Louis Raymond Willard. She is survived by her husband as well as her 4 children, Kathy Smathers, Gina Murray, Lou Rex Willard and Steve Louie Willard. She is also survived by her brother and sisters Carol Dick Breese, Kay John Thomasma, Nancy Forrest Garrison, Robert Sandy Kirk, Sharon Phil Keegan and sister-in-law Beverly Willard, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Hale, father Paul Burell, mother Ada Kirk, stepfather Clyde S. Kirk, sister Elaine McDonald, brother Butch Kirk and brother-in-law, Donald Keegan Jr. Pauline was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She and her husband often travelled with their children and then grandchildren around the country in their RV, visiting nearly all 50 states. She enjoyed the time she spent with her sisters and brother and would regularly meet to eat lunch at restaurants around town and catch up on family events. Pauline loved the sun and the water; she and her husband lived on West Lake and spent their winter months vacationing together in Florida. Pauline worked for many years as a Pharmacy Assistant at Cunningham's and Rite Aide Drugstore before her retirement. She stayed quite active after retirement traveling and taking care of her family. A funeral service celebrating Pauline's life, will be held at 12pm on Friday, October 17th, 2014 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, where friends and family can visit from 10am until the time of service. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
