of Portage, MI Paul, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, caring brother and friend departed this life on January 12, 2012. Paul was born in Kalamazoo on August 12, 1938 to Gus and Naomi "Midge" Chumas. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1957 where he excelled in baseball, football and basketball. He attended Western Michigan University where he also played basketball. Paul was married to the former Judy Johnson on September 26, 1958 and they were blessed with four wonderful children. He started his own successful business in 1970 and retired in 2000. Paul was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church. He will be dearly remembered and missed by his wife, Judy, sons, Matt Chumas and Steve Denise Chumas, daughters, Roni Dennis Murphy, Ann Scott Killman; grandchildren Sarah Chumas, Kevin, Jacob and Austin Killman; Colin, Ryan and Michelle Murphy; brother John Patti Chumas, sister, Carol Leipzig and several nieces and nephews. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. The family requests that memorials in his name be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church, 7211 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024.
