MAKOWSKI, Patricia M.
of Portage, Michigan Pat passed away Wednesday evening, June 5, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born December 8, 1931 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Patrick Henry and Grace Cornford Gill. On December 31, 1951, Pat was united in marriage to Norbert A. Makowski. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, listening and dancing to big band music from the 1940's; and her two dogs, Will and Grace. Pat was very proud of her Chippewa heritage. After raising her five children, she enjoyed returning to the professional working world until her retirement. Surviving are her five children, Dr. David Judy DeMink Makowski, Sue Gus McDade, Patti Carl Martensen, Barb Makowski and Paula Makowski; seven grandchildren, Max MJ Makowski, Kim Makowski, Jon McDade, Jessica Kalan McPherson, Allen Juanita Martensen, Nikki Martensen, and Carl Martensen Jr.; two great-grandsons, Bryson and Maddox Martensen; special sister-in-law, Maryalyce Makowski; brother-in-law, Ronald Makowski; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 40 years, Norbert; one daughter, Alyssa Makowski; her parents; two sisters; and one brother. Honoring Pat's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or service. Private inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
