Passed away Friday morning September 16, 2022 in South Bend, IN. He was born February 23, 1943 in Kalamazoo the son of Clarence A. and Loretta M. (Mitchell) Burnett. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. After 32 years he retired from Crown Vantage. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as his hobbies included fishing, swimming, boating, playing card, and dominos. He also enjoyed playing bingo.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Jr.; grandson, Nicholas Mitchell; daughter, Heather Mitchell; brothers and sisters, Shirley Wade, Wilhelmina Hayes, Michael Mitchell, William Burnett, and Clarence Burnett. He is survived by his children, Debbie McMillan, Nicole McCormick-Thames, Terry Burnett, Monica Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, and Kim Mitchell; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Constance Roberson, Rosalie Kirk, Linda Coleman, Debora Smith, and Celia Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may meet the family from 12:00-1:00pm Wednesday, September 28 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 South Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 where a homegoing service will follow at 1:00pm. Interment will be at 10:00am Thursday, September 29 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors (meet in assembly area at 9:45am).
