Warner, Mildred "Crystal"
Passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2015. Crystal was born on Sept. 25, 1913 to the late Henry H. and Mollie (Blinn) Pulley in Grant County, Indiana. She was the youngest of four children, with siblings Ernest, Edith, and George. Crystal loved to reminisce about the days when her beloved father worked as an Oil Field Foreman. Crystal married the love of her life, James R. Warner, on March 5, 1968; he preceded her in death. Crystal was also preceded in death by her son and his wife, James E. and Jan Dollahan. Crystal is survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, Patricia (Dollahan) Merrill & Douglas Merrill, Daniel Dollahan & Karin Dollahan, Jill (Dollahan) Avalos & Fernando Avalos, Sally (Dollahan) Johnston and Charles Johnston, and Molly (Dollahan) Gortsema & Scott Gortsema; ten great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; two nieces, Linda Thill & Jane Elliot; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Crystal was an extremely hard worker, who retired at age 72. She took great pride in her 14 years serving as the Manager at Schwarz's Chicken Charlie's Restaurant. She also had many talents as a professional caterer & event planner for Stafford's Restaurant. One of her greatest accomplishments was coordinating a party that fed 3,000 for the staff of Borgess Hospital. She will be remembered by her many friends & family for her vivacious & dynamic personality. She was an extrovert who loved people, and she offered many acts of kindness to all she met. Crystal had a knack for making everyone her friend. She was selfless, joyful, tireless and extremely generous. She will also be remembered for her many hours of volunteer service as a greeter at the Kalamazoo Airport, in the gift shop at the Kalamazoo Air Museum, Bronson Hospital, and The Discovery Shop for the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the First Congregational Church, 345 West Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Rev. Nathan Dannison will officiate. Private interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building Fund at The First Congregational Church.
