Passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the age of 91. Mary Ann was born in Kalamazoo on April 8, 1928 the daughter of John and Elizabeth (LaPage) Mertz. She was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School.

On April 25, 1947 she was united in marriage to Nelson Harry "Van" Ven De Ville. Mary Ann and Van owned and operated Van De Ville Garden Center for 36 years. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church; and a member of the Rose Society.

She was preceded in death by Van on November 3, 2014; by her parents and by all of her siblings Kathryn Holtz, Evelyn Stevenson, Margaret Earl, Dorothy Hayes, Johnny W. Mertz, Jr., Josephine Wagner, Fredrick Mertz. Surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 - 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Brian Lutz, officiating. Private interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
