PAEGLIS, Martins I.
of Kalamazoo Passed away April 25, 2010 at Borgess Hospital. He was born January 25, 1934 in Valka, Latvia, to the late Alfred and Emma Liepins Paeglis. Martins was united in marriage on July 24, 1965 to the former Rita Jirgens, who preceded him in death on June 17, 2004. Martins emigrated from Latvia to the United States in 1950 and later became a citizen of The United States on November 17, 1969. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, as a sergeant, for two years, until honorably discharged. Martins loved his family first and foremost. He was employed by James River Corporation for 42 plus years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling to many places, especially Las Vegas and Aruba. Surviving Martins are his children, Debra Bernard Marr and Andrejs Tari Paeglis; 3 grandchildren, Brock Korbinski, Jennifer Marr and Ryan Britnee Marr; brother, Andrejs Mary Lou Paeglis; god-children, Peter Jirgens, Rita Jirgens and Marty Bennett; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding Martins in death was a brother, Zigurds Paeglis. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 6 - 8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, and again on Thursday from 10 - 11:00 o'clock, where a Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 o'clock. Chaplain Mary Heintzkill will officiate services. Committal service will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo.
