Swinehart, Marilyn Adella
of Mattawan

Marilyn A Swinehart, 85, passed away peacefully at home. She was born March 20, 1936, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Loomis) Small.

Marilyn graduated from Comstock High School in 1954, and married her first husband (Merle D Honicutt). They had one child before their divorce. She later met her second husband (Kenneth Swinehart) and had four more children during their 13-year marriage.

Marilyn is lovingly remembered as being a sweet, shy woman who was devoted to her family. She was a kind and gentle soul with a quick smile who always put others before herself. Cheerfully upbeat, she tolerated an extremely large and rowdy group of grandchildren and great grandchildren with patience and good humor. The simplest of things brought her joy: a good book, an interesting puzzle, a handful of jellybeans, an hour or two of bright sun, and a devoted, one-person cat named Tigger. Although she enjoyed her quiet time, nothing brought her more joy than family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by both husbands and four of her siblings, John Small, Jacqueline (Small) Pacheco, Lucille (Small) McCraken, and Helen (Small) Buechner. Surviving siblings include Roy Small and June (Small) Langerveld; her five children: Kevin Honicutt, Shara Swinehart, Teresa Swinehart, Kaleen (Swinehart) VanBuren, and Andrea Swinehart; thirteen grandchildren: Karrie (Honicutt) Drangmeister, Kevin Honicutt Jr, Kurt Honicutt, Kasey Honicutt, Joseph Verile, Stacy (Verile) Simons, Ryan Burgen, Rick Burgen, Randy Burgen, Brandon Swinehart, Micaela (VanBuren) Sharp, Ashley (Swinehart) Brierly and Daniel Davis; twenty-two great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A lifetime celebration and gathering will be held at the family home in Mattawan on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
