Lorraine Joyce (Hayward) Spears

Lorraine Joyce Spears died Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Waddell, Arizona. She was born May 18, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI, daughter of George and Marie (Cam) Hayward. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident for most of her life and was employed with W.L. Molding for 20 years. Lorraine was a member of Comstock United Methodist Church. On October 19, 1946, Lorraine married Ray Spears who preceded her in death on July 15, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Doris, Dick, Russell, Carl, Dorothy, and Nancy, son-in-law, Earl Cosby and her loving companion Norm Stewart. Lorraine is survived by six children, Gerald (Sandra) Spears of Marcellus, Patricia (Daniel) Phelps of Surprise, AZ, Susan Cosby of Portage, Linda (Mark) Hunt of Goodyear, AZ, William (Kimberly) Spears of Schoolcraft, and Kenneth (Flora) Spears of Oshtemo; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Ron) VanNess; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation with 10-person limit at a time in the building will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1st at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The family will be greeting guests outside and encourage guests to visit Lorraine and kindly step back outside so others may enter. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2nd at Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
