COOK, Lewis, Jr.
Comstock Passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Lewis was born September 17, 1923 in Kalamazoo, a son of Lewis, Sr. and Mary Ann Keller Cook and was a lifelong resident of the Comstock area. Lewis loved his country and was a proud member of the Unites States Army from 1942-1946, during WW II, where he served in the South Pacific and attained the rank of First Sergeant. When he returned home, he married his high school sweetheart, Hilda Van Dyke on March 1, 1946. Lewis was a member of Bethel Reformed Church and was a Cub Scout Master for several years. He and his wife owned and operated the Cook Drywall Company for 41 years. He was a member of Comstock VFW, Post 6252, the Elks Club of Otsego, was a supporter of Comstock Athletics and enjoyed summer activities at Indian Lake with his family. Lewis is survived by his wife, Hilda; their children, Tom Nancy Cook of Macomb Township and Luanne Jim Kordupel of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Sarah & Kyle Cook and Lewis & Megan Kordupel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in the Bethel Reformed Church, 1003 Gayle St. with Rev. David Armstrong, officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway on Thursday from 6-8 PM.
