Laura F. Hirdning passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 in South Bend, IN. She was born May 6, 1937 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Clyde and Lucylle (Palmer) Mack and had been a lifelong area resident. Laura graduated from Portage Central and on April 27, 1957, married Raymond I. Hirdning. She was a dedicated mother to her three sons and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Laura went back to work for many years at Hodson Light, Log and Patio where she made many friends. Tiger baseball was a big part of her life, if they were playing, she was watching, unless they were playing badly, which she then turned the TV off. The Church has always been a big part of her life. She loved singing in the choir and writing letters to shut-ins. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on April 27, 1999. Laura was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Donald Mack, Clancy Mack, Rev. William Mack, and Richard Mack; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Hirdning. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Jennifer) Hirdning of Buchanan, Brian (Mary) Hirdning of Portage, and Jeffrey Hirdning of Portage; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Erma Commissaris, brother, Kenneth Mack; brother-in-law, Frank (Nancy) Hirdning; several nieces and nephews; and Karen Lawrence, who held a special place in Laura's heart, always having done special things for her. Private visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage MI 49002. Private graveside services will be held in Ft.
